Effective June 30, 2010, Lake Butler Hospital is a Tobacco-Free Campus.

Smoking is the number one cause of preventable disease and death in our society.  As the major healthcare provider in Union County, Lake Butler Hospital Hand Surgery Center is committed to promoting health and wellness within the community. It’s our job to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for our employees, physicians, patients and visitors. Our goal is to promote good health and influence public attitudes about the use of tobacco.

Therefore, no use of any tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, is permissible by anyone on the hospital campuses. The policy extends to all buildings (owned or leased), grounds, parking lots, or personal vehicles on hospital grounds.

Any persons found smoking or using tobacco on LBH property will be asked to extinguish their tobacco product and will be given an information card with information and resources for quitting tobacco.

Want to Stop Using Tobacco?
Need FREE Nicotine Replacement Therapies?

We are committed to helping our patients, visitors, employees and community become healthier by providing FREE resources to those individuals who would like help stopping tobacco use.

Lake Butler Hospital is offering FREE nicotine replacement therapies to anyone who would like helping stopping any tobacco product, while supplies last, including but not limited to:

  • Cigarettes
  • Dip
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Cigars
  • Pipes

The FREE nicotine replacement therapies available are:

  • Nicotine Patches
  • Nicotine Gum – various flavors
  • Nicotine Lozenges – various flavors

Research shows that when combining the use of nicotine replacement therapies with an educational group, it doubles the success rate.

Our goal is to help you be as successful as possible in your quit attempt, so there are a couple requirements that must be met to receive the FREE nicotine replacement therapies:

  • You must meet in person or on the phone with one of Lake Butler Hospital’s Tobacco Treatment Specialists (TTS) for an initial assessment. During this assessment the TTS will determine the best plan of treatment to help you become tobacco free.
  • You must commit to attend a FREE 6-week class. The 6-week series includes one class a week, which lasts approximately an hour and a half. This class is beneficial in helping individuals that use any type of tobacco to quit, not just those who want to stop smoking.  If you are unable to attend the classes please contact us for alternative options. Class dates will be provided during your initial assessment.

Lake Butler Hospital has 3 trained TTS on staff. The TTS were trained at the prestigious Mayo Clinic – Nicotine Dependence Center, which afforded them the opportunity to receive the most up-to-date training, research and treatment plans for helping individuals stop tobacco use.

If you want to stop using tobacco, but do not want to commit to the 6-week class or receive the FREE nicotine replacement therapies, one of our TTS would be happy to meet with you and provide you with a plan to stop using tobacco on your own.
